Superkart Rule Changes

The Superkart Working Group has advised a number of rule changes that are expected to be confirmed early in the new year.

Submissions that are now closed on the SWG website have made their way to the AMRC, however the early December face to face meeting of the commission was postponed. The changes need to be approved by the commission prior to their entry into the STR's within the CAMS manual. The SWG feel that all the submissions will be approved for 2009.

Amongst several tweaks & additions, some of the changes to the regulations are expected to be:

  • All to have chassis identification numbersstamped into main chassis rails
  • Rear Wheel Protection by 01/07/09
  • Unleaded racing fuel has been listed within "fuels"
  •  250cc tyres will need to be FIA/Cik approved
  • 125 NGB weights raised to 165kg (light) & 185k (heavy)
  • 125 NGB minimum fairing height of 565mm instead of a seat angle rule
