Saturday Night Go Kart Series Kicked off In Style

press release:

The 2009 Saturday Night Go Kart Series made a promising start to the year with the successful running of the opening round last Saturday night (February 28) down at Wollongong City Raceway (Kembla Grange on the South Coast of NSW).

Encouraging fields of both Junior and Seniors took part in the opening round of the Saturday Night Series in their respective classes and the action out on the Wollongong City raceway circuit was fast and furious from start to finish.

The opening round of the Saturday Night Series saw class wins shared between Jack Bennett (Junior Clubman and Junior National combined), Drew Friend (Midget / Rookies combined), Ian Beeraz (Clubman combined), Darryl Apps (Senior National), Joe Gauci (TAG Red / TAG Over 40 and TAG Super Heavy combined), Chad Horsley (TAG Restricted) and Joe Chetcuti (TAG Yellow).

Chad Horsley was one of the most impressive from the Saturday Night Series opener as he defeated a very strong field of entrants in the TAG Restricted class by topping the time sheets in qualifying and then going on to win all three heat races and the final. It was a similar story for Jack Bennett in the Junior Clubman and National combined where he walked away with all three heat race wins and the final. Bennett was also the quickest in qualifying earlier in the day.

It has been a promising start to the 2009 Saturday Night Series and it is hoped that it will only grow from here on in.

The second round of the Saturday Night Series is to be held at Wollongong City Raceway on Saturday Night, March 28.
