Ward & Coghlan Win At Super Sprint 4s

press release

Last Sunday (March 15) the second round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series was staged down at Wollongong City Raceway (Kembla Grange, South Coast of NSW) and a small but enthusiastic field of drivers battled it out for the winning spoils.

At the completion of the round, that run in conjunction with the second round of the Pro Moto Series (Motorcycles 150cc and under), it was defending Super Sprint 4’s Series champion for the Senior Heavy class Rick Ward that took the outright honours in the final for the seniors.

Ward, who runs in the Senior Heavy class, took a convincing victory in the final after he had won two out of the three heat races and finished second in the race that he didn’t managed to win. Ward in the final for the Senior Heavy class defeated Matt Wagner and Glenn Manning. Ward’s main threat throughout the round was Manning, who claimed the victory in heat three, and he was unfortunately bogged by mechanical issues in the final and was unable to mount a serious challenge for the lead and ended up finishing back in third place.

In the Senior Light class Brenton Coghlan and Ben McGuire battled it out and in the end it was Coghlan that had the wood over McGuire and ended up defeating him in all three heat races and then the final.

Once again, the Junior class for the Super Sprint 4’s Series was cancelled due to insufficient entries.

ProKart Australia unfortunately has to advise that the Super Sprint 4’s Series will cease to continue if competitor numbers do not improve rapidly in time for the next round, which is set down for Saturday, April 4.
