Beeraz & Chetcuti Clean Sweep Sat Night Series Rnd 2

press release

Both Ian Beeraz and Joe Chetcuti managed to achieve a perfect scorecard in their respective classes down at Wollongong City Raceway last Saturday night (March 28) during the second round of the Saturday Night Go Kart Series.

Beeraz, who competed in the Clubman Light and Heavy combined class, dominated proceeding by winning all three of his heat races and then romped home to take out the final in convincing fashion, while Chetcuti did likewise in the Open Performance class. In their respective classes Beeraz won the final ahead of Andrew Worner and Alex Henry and Chetcuti proved too strong for second and third placed Daniel Orsini and Matt Ferraro. In the final for the Open Performance class Orsini registered the fastest lap during the 16 lap final but it still was not enough to deny Chetcuti of a clean sweep.

In the Senior National class it was Cameron Moss that paced the field early on in the round only to fall short when it mattered most, during the final. Moss had scored dominated all three of the heat races and started as a firm favourite for the final. However, in the final after playing second fiddle to Moss, Darryl Apps managed to get his way to the front and that was where he stayed until the fall of the chequered flag where he defeated Moss and in third was another member of the Moss clan in Bradley Moss.

The TAG Red / TAG Over 40 and TAG Super Heavy combined class resulted in Enzo Mendicino winning the final after he outpaced Daniel Ball and Grant Gaffa in second and third place respectively. Mendicino was unable to complete an undefeated run during his heat races as he won both heat one and three and then in the second heat he had to be content with a second place finish behind Daniel Ball.

The third round of the Saturday Night Series is to be held back at Wollongong City Raceway on Saturday night, April 25.
