Team5150R Out to Break Adrenalin Rush Dominance

press release

The past two rounds of the 2009 Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Queensland Endurance Kart Championship has seen the Adrenalin Rush Karting team score 1 – 2 finishes and heading into this Saturday’s (May 9) fourth round at Ipswich Kart Track, near Ipswich in Queensland, #50 Team5150R feel that they are one of the team’s that have what it takes to snap their winning streak.

#50 Team5150R were left deeply disappointed after a mix up during a pit stop during the third round of the Queensland Championship last month cost them a better chance of victory in the ‘Nanango 6 Hour’ at the South Burnett Kart Track last month (April). Their main objective for this Saturday is to make amends by working their way into the winner’s circle.

“We know we have what it takes to beat the Adrenalin Rush Karting teams and hopefully we can break their winning streak and record our maiden victory this Saturday in the ‘Ipswich 9 Hour’,” expressed a confident Ian McMah from #50 Team5150R who shares the driving duties with Darren Farmilo. “It was my error [touching the team’s kart in the fuel bay] during a pit stop that cost us a penalty and denied the team a better chance of victory and this has made me even more determined to move up a few spots on the podium at the completion of the ‘Ipswich 9 Hour’.”

Aside from the currently dominant #98 and #86 karts of Adrenalin Rush Karting,  which have finished 1 – 2  in the past two rounds of the Queensland Championship and the presently in-form#50 kart of Team5150R; there are other teams such as the #51 kart from Team5150R; round one winners the Wollongong City Raceway Jets (#3) from NSW; the #27 kart of the www.resisales.com.au team and last year’s Gold Coast 12 Hour winners PDS Grand Prix in their #661 kart that are all more than capable getting into victory lane at this Saturday’s ‘Ipswich 9 Hour’.

Team manager and owner of the Adrenalin Rush Karting teams, Al Denyer, is certainly not letting his team get too ahead of themselves despite their scintillating form over the past two rounds of the Queensland Championship that currently sees them sitting 1 – 2 in the overall point standings.

“We are taking each round as it comes and there is certainly no room for complacency in our team or Endurance Karting in general,” stated Denyer. “Although we have won the past two rounds there is still plenty of room for improvement and the form of the #50 Team5150R especially and some of the other teams are certainly keeping us on our toes. In Endurance Karting you never go into the race expecting to win despite winning being the main goal as a race is never in the bag until you reach the finish line. There is just so much that can happen out there on the race track and sometimes things can happen that are simply out of your control. All you can do to in order to help combat that is prepare your team the best you can and make sure your drivers drive as consistency and sensible as possible.”

The Ipswich Kart Track is a total of 1.080km in length and is certainly one of the favoured tracks for Endurance Karting. Having been recently refurbished over the past few months, the Ipswich Kart Track could spring a few surprises to teams this Saturday as they try to optimise grip on the entirely new surface.

Practice sessions kicks off at 9am on Saturday morning and are then followed by qualifying with the ‘Ipswich 9 Hour’ being scheduled to start at 11am. With this race continuing for 9 hours and concluding under lights, kart setup, strategy and driver adaptation to the changing conditions will present the largest challenge yet for teams as they continue to chase the series championship.

The Ipswich Kart Track is located at Champions Way, Willowbank, near Ipswich.
