Postponed Opening Round Finally Runs

press release

The rain stayed away and the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club’s rescheduled round 1 of the 2009 Championship season was finally run and won last Sunday (May 3) at the superb Nepean Motorsports complex.

With nearly eighty of the NSW best speedway karters racing, the day produced sensational action and with the meeting being the final shoot out on the short track before the running of the AKA Australian Speedway Kart titles in June everyone was trying to dial into the Nepean track.

While the midgets were missing as they were on volunteer duties all the other regular divisions were highlighted. It was a very impressive Kristopher Johnson in the Rookies, with him dominating the class picking up wins in all three heats as well as the feature, certainly at top effort!

The 2008 NSWSKC Champion Wayne Baines continued his top form and now his racing in the KT Open Heavy division, the #1 machine still was the kart to beat picking up the round, feature and high points’ award. Making it a family affair, Alana Baines was the round winner in the KT Open Light ranks while their son Jake finished second in the rookies giving the Baines family a successful day of racing.

Another highlight of the BC Body Making supported Champion of Champions meeting was that Amanda Stacey picked up her first feature win in the KT Open Light division. Also after switching to the premier class the Formula 100 late last year Sean Mayo also picked up a great feature race win
