press release

2008 Doyle's Racing Kartsport Clubman Heavy driver, 21yo James Greenwood, is dusting off his Harrington Doyle blue race suit and #12 racing number plate for a return to the track at the 2009 Queensland State Open Bitumen Sprint Karting Championships to be held at Gympie in early July.

Greenwood, last year's Clubman Heavy 5th place getter in Rockhampton, decided to take a break from Karting toward season's end in November 2008. During his time out of the seat, he has continued to assist DRK with driver coaching and kart set-ups. James has also been trying his hand, very successfully, with the Climatrol Racing Endurance Karting Team, taking a 2nd place podium only just last weekend.

The architect behind James' entry in the 09 Championships, DRK Team member and driver, Trevor Beetham, is excited to see James back behind the wheel. "It just seemed to be an obvious choice to make when the cards played out," said Beetham, "James is a good driver, he's continued to be an important part of our team and we had a CRG spare for him".

Greenwood will team up under the blue / green Harrington Doyle livery with current South Australian Clubman Heavy Title holder, Brendan Nelson; current 2009 Clubman Gladiators Series Leader, Robbie Beetham and local Clubman Heavy bullet, Rodger Korzeniewski in a four man blue / green assault on the Clubman Heavy class.

DRK youngster, 11yo Mitchell Gee will also form part of the DRK team at Gympie in his Junior National Light and Junior National Heavy team entries.

"Doyle's Racing started in Gympie nearly 40 years ago and with the States being in our traditional homeland this year, we want to put our best foot forward", said Team Manager, Craig Doyle. "We were the first to book our 10 kart marquee with the Cooloola Club and we're keen to be a part of what promises to be a great event. Brendan, James, Robbie & Rodger bring out the very best in each other and the six of us DRK old blokes are all very pleased to see them all racing under our colours at the 09 Titles".

With between 420 and 450 entries expected for the 2009 Queensland State Open Bitumen Sprint Karting Championships, the Cooloola Coast Kart Club is already well underway with event preparations.

A "shake down meeting" will be held on Saturday 6th June & Sunday 7th June 2009 to identify any outstanding issues before the July 3-5, Titles get underway.
