When Three Becomes One

press release

For the second occasion this year, the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia National, New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland (QLD) Endurance Kart Championship will join as one this Saturday (June 6) at the Raleigh International Raceway, near Coffs Harbour on the Mid North Coast of NSW, with the running of the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’.

Originally the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’ was scheduled to be a ’24 Hour’ event but due to regulation rules with the Coffs Harbour council have forced the cancellation of the ’24 Hour’ and it is now going to be an ‘8 Hour’ event.

The National Championship is this year held over a total of three rounds and this Saturday is going to be the second round. The opening round of the National Championship was run at Oran Park Raceway (Narellan, NSW) in March and the victory spoils were claimed by Wollongong City Raceway Jets team.

One of the anticipated battles of the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’ is going to be between current NSW Championship leaders the Wollongong City Raceway Jets and the Queensland Championship pace setters Adrenalin Rush Karting # 98. Both teams have been in dominant form throughout the opening rounds of their respective championships this year and their battle is certainly going to be an interesting one.

Although the main focus is going to be on the Wollongong City Raceway Jets and Adrenalin Rush Karting teams, there are going to be a number of teams snapping at their heels which includes; current National and NSW Champions Team Kaos, the second of the Adrenalin Rush Karting team # 86, Team 5150R # 1 and # 2, PDS Grand Prix, Horsepower Racing and DQ Internationals outfits.

Other teams looking for a strong result in the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’ include Climatrol Racing Team, www.resisales.com.au racing, BF Racing, Sam Racing and Walkos Shire Racing.

With plenty on the line this Saturday, with points counting towards not only the National Championship but also the NSW and QLD Championships; the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’ is going to be hard fought to say the very least.

There are going to be close to 30 teams lining up to have their shot at winning the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’.

Endurance Kart Racing consistently brings in plenty of race action and sees the switch of positions throughout the race due to drivers having to pit for driver changes and re-fuel. The race action itself is also a test for the drivers themselves as they must drive for long periods at a time which will test their driving skills and also test each team with their preparation and team work. In Endurance Kart racing it is not always the fastest team that wins, but the most consistent. There are between three to four drivers in each team in Endurance Karting, depending on the race distance.

Each team will take part in both practice and qualifying sessions from 8am and the ‘Raleigh 8 Hour’ race is set to start at 9am and conclude at 5pm. The Raleigh International Raceway is located on the Valery Road, Raleigh, near Coffs Harbour.
