Lismore Juniors Heading To Qld Championships

press release

Lismore Kart Club Junior drivers Joshua Crossingham, Lachlan O’Reilly and Chris Burley are heading to Gympie, 3rd-5th of July for the 2009 Queensland Open State Championships.

Each driver will be one to watch in their respective classes with solid results for these Lismore Young Guns at the Cooloola Club in the past year.

Their challenge to bring home a Queensland State Title and coveted “Blue Plate” will be assisted by a former Lismore Young Guns Champion from the 1980’s, Graham Armstrong, who builds the race engines used by the boys.

Former Junior National Light ace and race winner in JNL at Cooloola, albeit in an anti-clockwise direction, Lismore teenager Joshua Crossingham returns to the National class fresh from a stint in the high performance J-Max class.

This time he will be running in the 140kg Junior National Heavy class in a new Arrow XE-28 that he has been testing at Lismore. The laps around Cooloola in the J-Max will not be wasted, although the first run up the hill may seem like it takes an eternity.

Recently crowned Junior National Light State Champion Lachlan O’Reilly will be proudly displaying the “Blue Plate” aboard his Azzurro R8 in his first race meeting since returning triumphantly from the NT Titles in Darwin.

O’Reilly has made the trek from Grafton to Cooloola a number of times this year and has gained speed each time as he has learned some of the more technical aspects of the challenging layout. His best result has been in April, with a heat win and second overall, with three way photo finishes in both the pre-final and final.

Chris Burley needs no Red Bull to be one to watch in the Rookie class, with his Arrow AX-9 dialled into the Cooloola track, also having made the trek up from Casino throughout the year in preparation for the titles.

The pint sized pocket rocket with the laid back driving style is never without a smile on his face and a yarn to be told. Burley has matched it with the best and is overdue for a good clean run to the finish come finals time.

Other Lismore drivers competing at the Qld Titles are Dylan Jupe in Junior Clubman, Michelle Attard in Clubman Light and Abbey Kellie in Rotax Light.

The Lismore Kart Club wish all drivers and pitcrews the best of luck at the titles, to stay safe and to have fun, remembering that everything else is a bonus.
