Track Changes Progessing At Karratha

AKA press release

The Karratha Kart Club is gearing up for the largest event in its history, the Western Australian State Championships, on October 2-4.

Since gaining the rights to host the Championships 18 months ago the tight-knit club has been working hard to ensure the Championships will be remembered as one of the best for many years.

One of the major changes has been an extension of the main straight along with a banked corner coming onto that part of the circuit (above). There has also been a number of improvements made throughout the complex, including a new double out grid, in grid and control tower.

These improvements have been courtesy of the generosity shown by local Karratha business, who are excited about Western Australia’s largest karting event coming to town, and the dedication of Karratha Kart Club Members.

“Everyone involved in the Club is really beginning to gear up for the event, I think it will be great for karting not only in this region but also for drivers from various parts of the States and Country,” said Karratha Kart Club President Hanz Barth.

“We have made a lot of improvements to the track over the past few months and we aim to make sure those travelling to the event will remember it not just for the racing on the track but also the enjoyable time they have off the track.”

One local business who has shown it’s true support to the Karratha Kart Club is KTeq Rentals, who are set to become the naming rights sponsor for the Championships.

“Everyone in the region is really looking forward to the Championships coming to Karratha, including all of the staff at KTeq Rentals,” said KTeq Rentals’ Michael Rowe.

“The Kart Club provides the local community with a great opportunity to get their motorsport fix and I’m looking forward to seeing drivers from all across the state head North for the event later in the year.

“It should be a great event and everyone in the club is really looking forward to putting on a great show.”

Interest has already been received for the Championships from drivers as far away as Tasmania and Northern Territory and while accommodation is still readily available for the Championships weekend karters are urged to begin their planning their travels.

The Karratha Club is also looking at transporting karts on a truck from Perth but will need to get approximate numbers first before committing to this.
