Disadvantaged early in the weekend by a chain failure in the second lap of qualifying, Gee’s new Arrow XE28 chassis seemed to get stronger throughout the weekend as he fought his way up through the 28 Kart field of more seasoned teenagers.

“We’re exceptionally pleased for Mitchell and his family,” said Team Manager, Craig Doyle. “The City of Melbourne Titles always attracts a prestigious field of national competitors.  For Mitchell to dig in after a major setback so early and make his way from 28th through to 9th is a real blue steel result.  It just reaffirms to us that he has the right mindset and terrific potential to do good things.”

Showing their dedication to his development, Mitchell and his father Michael travelled back to Oran Park this past weekend to practice and get some laps in at the Sydney venue for the upcoming New South Wales State Titles to be held there October 2 / 4.  In his first ever steer around the historic venue in his Junior National Heavy Kart; Mitchell was immediately banking some very credible times.

“Mitch is showing some really good pace and is getting very comfortable in his new Kart.  Being competitive comes with more racing and seat time, so although we’ve just got back from Oran Park on Sunday night, we’re re-packing the trailer and heading for The Yamaha Titles at Coffs Harbour on Wednesday after school,” said Michael Gee, Mitchell’s father.

Having taken 3rd on the Coffs Harbour Podium at the 2008 Yamaha Titles in the Rookies class, the Central New South Wales track is one of Mitchell’s favourites and he hopes to step up in 2009 on to the Junior Podiums in both light and heavy classes come Sunday.
