Corey Foyle Wins Bryan Foyle Cup

press release

Last Sunday (August 23) the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club held round 6, the Cascade Plumping supported Classic at the Nepean Motorsports complex and with almost 70 top line karts in the pits, the action was superb.

The temperature might have been high for mid winter but the racing was certainly “red hot” and with a couple of standouts during the day there were many happy faces at presentation time.

The highlight of the day was the running of the Bryan Foyle Cup for the Rookies as it was a year since Bryan had tragically passed away from a massive heart attack. His son Corey, who has been one of the standouts in the NSWSKC meetings over the past year, was very happy in taking out the Bryan Foyle Cup. Corey picked up the Cup after winning a heat and feature race, while Daniel Sayer after scoring the other heat victories finished second with fourth generation racer Jordyn Brazier third.

A strong 10 kart field in the Midgets saw Andrew Beattie taking out the opening heat with Luke Sayer and Kaidon Brown sharing the other heat victories. Luke Sayer scored his second win in taking out the feature going on to win the round.  Interestingly Kaidon Brown, son of speedcar “top gun” Mark Brown was impressive in winning heat two after joining the NSWSKC last year.

Nathan Camilleri after taking out the third heat was brilliant in winning the Junior division last Sunday with the other heat wins going to Lindsay Jones and Regan Angel. Regan Angel picked up the double in also winning the feature race.

The KT Open Heavy division produces some of the best speedway action but so far this year it’s been dominated by 2008 NSWSKC Champion Wayne Baines. Last weekend Wayne Baines again showed he’s the guy to beat winning two heats, feature and the round.  Only Cameron Coghlan stood in the way of a clean sweep after winning the opening heat. With consistent results runners up in the round were Brett Coghlan and John Watton.

Heat winners in the Clubman Light were Greg Coghlan and Matt Tourish (2 wins) with impressive Nathan Bailey winning the feature. Greg Coghlan continued his top form and was awarded with the round victory. The Clubman Light division had impressive numbers with 15 karts nominating for the Classic meeting

In the Clubman Heavy a top 8 kart field was nominated and with a heat win Daniel Selmes was the round winner with Gary Slarke picking up the other two heats and a fast Tim Baker was the feature race winner.

The premier division, Formula 100 it was just one guy with Sean Mayo having his best ever race meeting winning all three heats. With a sensational drive in the feature Sean forged forward taking control of the race before going on to score a great victory. Nathan Bailey looked to have the feature won by mid race but had to settle for second after a fast finishing Sean Mayo blasted into the lead.
