11 Reasons To Have Raced At The Yamaha

press release

The girls were out in force in Coffs Harbour on the weekend 29th-30th August, where they competed at the annual “The Yamaha” event.

This photo shoot was arranged by Sarah Cooper, of Coopers Photography when she realised the “quality” of the female drivers in attendance. And when Sarah was talking quality, she was referring to the on track abilities, as much as the pretty faces.

Whilst all the girls featured in heat racing throughout the weekend, Amy Waters finished the weekend off with wins in the pre-final and final in the prestigious and hard fought Clubman Light class.

Michelle Attard finished 2nd in heat two and was 5th in the final of Clubman light ahead of Nicky Kelly in 6th place. Nicky recovered well after a nasty impact with a roped tyre bundle in the pre-final and had been top five in the heats.

Four girls were in the biggest class of the weekend, the Junior National Light class. Sheridan Cavanagh finished 2nd in first heat and was right amongst the action over the weekend, finishing a very respectable 10th in the final.

Lauren Coomber’s “tuition” from boyfriend and multiple National Champion Tyler Greenbury has been paying off, with a 9th place finish on her first visit to Coffs Harbour.

Lauren’s parents, Dale and Kym Coomber were very impressed by the whole weekend and have already marked “The Yamaha” in the calender for next year.

Kym said “I was surprised how cheap the accommodation was this time of year.” The Coomber’s made a holiday out of the race meeting with Kym being able to spend some time lazing by the pool with their younger daughter while Dale and Lauren were getting some “free” practice in before the race meeting.

All the competitors would like to thank Coffs Harbour Club for again providing such a great venue and the AKA Officials and volunteers that assisted with the organising and running of the meeting.
