Saturday Night Series Winds Down At Wollongong

press release

The Saturday Night Kart Series for 2009 held its seventh and penultimate round last Saturday night (September 26) at Wollongong City Raceway and it was a case of some of usual suspects making their way into the winner’s circle.

Continuing on with their success throughout the Saturday Night Kart Series it was the likes of Drew Friend, Leigh Wright and Enzo Mendicino in their respective classes.

Friend came out on top in the Midget / Rookies combined class final by outpacing Tom Chitty and Connor Hey, while Wright defeated Greg Jones and Tim Baker in the Clubman Heavy class final and Mendicino took all before him in the TAG Red Light and Heavy combined class and downed Joe Mauriello and Brad Scott in the final.

Ian Beeraz proved simply too strong for his rivals throughout the Clubman Light final and finished ahead of Nicholas Jamsek and John McMaster.

In the Senior National final Cameron Moss took out the winning honours and did so by defeating his brother Bradley Moss and third place was filled by Daniel Slater.

Other winners last Saturday night included both Mitchell Neilson (Junior National and Junior Clubman combined) with Luke Oppio and Ryan Suter filling second and third on the podium and Shane Tate (TAG Restricted, TAG Super Heavy and TAG Over 40s combined) who managed to take victory ahead of Chad and Mark Horsley.

The eighth and final round of the Saturday Night Kart Series is to be held on Saturday night, October 31 at Wollongong City Raceway.
