Team Kaos Win Wollongong 12-Hour

press release

Current Powered by Honda ProKart Australia National and NSW Endurance Kart Champions, Team Kaos, recorded their maiden victory of the year by taking out the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ last Saturday down at Wollongong City Raceway.

What looked more like a ‘12 Hour’ sprint than an endurance race, # 1 Team Kaos battled it out lap after lap with # 777 Horsepower Racing, who were also chasing their first win of the year after finishing the previous round in second place, but the former team proved too strong and recorded a narrow 20 second victory.

It certainly hasn’t been the best of years for the # 1 Team Kaos, but as they have proven by this ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ victory they can come through at any given time no matter what type of form they are in.

The # 1 Team Kaos and # 777 Horsepower Racing squads traded places for the lead throughout the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ and there was very little that separated the pairing in what many regarded as one of the best rounds of the year in ProKart Australia competition. It was quite amazing that after ‘12 Hours’ only 20 seconds separated the top two teams and this is just one of the more reoccurring things within ProKart Australia competition.

One of the early contenders for the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ was the # 21 Walkos Shire Racing but they were hindered by mechanical issues that prevented them from challenging the leaders despite having the pace to do so. Although hampered by mechanical issues they fought on to score the final spot on the podium in third.

The form team of the year has without a doubt been the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets and they finished off the podium for the first time this year. Due to a clutch drama, the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets had their hopes of adding win # 5 in the NSW Championship for the year dashed. In what was a great comeback the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets finished just off the podium in fourth place.

A fifth place was yet another great result for the # 4 LJ Hooker Jets, the sister team to the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets, and they showed that a podium finish shouldn’t be too far away in the future.

The ninth and final round of the NSW Championship, which is also the final round of the National Championship, is set down for Saturday, November 14 at Raleigh International Kart Raceway, near Coffs Harbour on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

For the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets, a fourth place finish in the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ was enough to secure them the NSW Championship. However, the National Championship is still very much up for grabs and there are up to six teams that have a mathematical chance of claiming the top prize. Current National Championship leaders are the # 98 Adrenalin Rush Karting team.
