Team Issues Apology For Driver's Actions

Something big and bad must have happened during the Florida Winter Tour with the Ocala Gran Prix team issuing a press release (below) to the world's karting media.

Further to this, FWT owner/promoter Bill Wright personally apologised to the participants and spectators for the incident (in which a driver deliberately wrecked another to remove them from the race on the last lap of a Pro Rotax final).

"I'm especially saddened that our cadets and juniors, who look up to the senior drivers, witnessed such a reckless and unsafe act" Wright said. "The offending driver was immediately placed under the supervision of the on-site law enforcement officer and escorted off the premises. I have banned the driver from any future Formula Kart Productions events. This sort of behavior will not be tolerated."

The staff and drivers of Ocala Gran Prix would like to issue an apology to the teams, competitors and spectators of the Florida Winter Tour.  Rotax Pro driver Davey Koch’s actions were inappropriate and not supported by the Ocala Gran Prix team, and the Dutch resident will not be returning to action with the team or series.

Davey Koch, who is a veteran karter and a multi-time champion, let his true racing emotion get the best of him when on track action started to get aggressive, regrets his actions in today’s event. Davey Koch and the Ocala Gran Prix crew would like to apologize to everyone in attendance, especially to the BTK Motorsports team and fellow Rotax Pro driver Victor Pedrosa for his actions.

“I do not condone or support any actions by any driver under my tent,” stated OGP President Jorge Arellano. “I do not care if the driver is a visitor from a different country, a front running North American pilot or a back marker who is on a steep learning curve. I would personally like to apologize for today’s actions.”

Ocala Gran Prix and their competitors have the upmost respect for fellow drivers, teams and series’ and deeply regret the actions of their driver.

Thanks,
The staff, crew and drivers of Ocala Gran Prix
