Increased Presence for Dunlop at CIK Events

press release

Dunlop Kartsport will continue its support of the CIK Stars of Karting Series in 2010 with an increased trackside presence courtesy of a new 25 ft Pace Trailer recently imported from America.

With each of the Pro classes in the series – Pro Light(KF1), Pro Gearbox(KZ2) and Pro Junior(KF3) – using the tyre manufacturer’s product, Les May and his Dunlop crew will be on hand to supply tyres and provide technical support to all competitors.

“At Dunlop Kartsport we view the CIK Stars of Karting Series as the perfect tool to provide the sport of karting with a professional image and are proud to be associated with such a series,” said May.

“The new trailer has been designed specifically for these events and will enable us to provide a more comprehensive and very professional service to all competitors trackside.”

The Dunlop Kartsport crew will transport the tyres, both dry and wet weather, to each venue and supply the tyres on an “As needed” basis while also co-ordinating the barcoding and allocation of tyres to competitors along with series organisers and officials.

“We are looking at the CIK Stars of Karting Series in a similar fashion to the way in which Dunlop looks at the V8 Supercar Series, where we provide a professional service to the competitor and the championship,” said May.

“At Dunlop Kartsport we don’t have any affiliation with any team or manufacturer and will be at each event purely to look after the requirements of the series organisers and competitors.

“From all the talk around the place it is shaping up to be a great series this year and we’re proud to be a part of it once again.”

Over the past few months Dunlop Kartsport has completed a number of test days with the DDM tyre, to be used by competitors in both Pro Gearbox and Pro Junior, and May has indicated the results have been extremely positive.

“In last year’s series competitors used the DDS tyre in KF2, which is now Pro Light, with enormous success and we have tested the DDM compound over the past few months and the results have been very pleasing,” said May.

“The wear rate is very good and also the drop off on the tyres is again a lot better than previously experienced with a CIK-spec tyre.”

The CIK Stars of Karting Series will kick off in Newcastle on March 5-7.
