Fothergill Issues Formal Appology

Cian Fothergill has issued the following appology to the AKANSW after an incident at the opening round of the Australian CIK Championships at Newcastle recently.

Fothergill raised both hands and lifted both legs off the controls of his kart as crossed the finish line - a big No No in Australian karting on the grounds of safety (although it is not uncommon to see at some international events - as demonstrated by this dude in America the other week!!)

Dear Mr King,

I would like to apologise for my inappropriate actions on crossing the finish line in the first round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series in Newcastle.

I can honestly admit that I had no idea of the serious consequences that are related to my actions, and clearly understand that it is not a good impression to give to any karter, especially the younger ones.

I appreciate that there have been a lot of people who have worked hard to provide Australian karting with an elite series and I apologise if my actions have blemished what was otherwise a fantastic meeting for the sport.

As a competitor in the CIK Stars of Karting Series I understand that I am expected to set a professional image at all times and I will ensure that such actions will never happen again.  I will also do my best to educate my fellow karters about the inappropriateness of my actions.

Sincerely

Cian Fothergill
