press release

After recent guest appearances in a blue/green CRG Black Diamond Clubman Kart in the first 2 Rounds of the 2010 Supercheap Auto Kart Series and also the CIK Stars of Karting Round 2, James achieved some very solid results.  This was well regarded by the Team, given his absence from full time racing since November 2008.

The new 18 month deal recently struck with his previous Kart Team will see James suit up in all new X-treme Racing Apparel and take the wheel of a brand new Pro Karting powered Monaco Kart starting in July 2010 at Townsville.  James will then compete at select events over the next 6 months, continuing to ramp up to his fulltime return to the sport in 2011.

This new deal ensures that he has the support that he needs and it will continue through until at least December 2011.

“It’s terrific to have James back in the DRK family.  I’d said to him in late 2008 when he told me he wanted to hang up his helmet, that I’d appreciate him giving me a call first if he ever decided that he wanted to return to the sport”, said DRK Team Manager, Craig Doyle.  “Thanks to some terrific support from our DRK team members, Trevor and Robbie Beetham, they were able to put him in the seat of one of their CRG’s for these guest drives over the past few months.”

Reflecting further on the events over the past fortnight, Doyle said, “I guess that I’ve always hoped that I could have both Brendan (Nelson) and James in the same Team.  Together they bring a formidable strength to our line up and both boys have always professionally represented our Team Partners and DRK exceptionally well.  With young Mitchell Gee also going quick and our newest recruit Callum Walker coming on very strong; it’s really driving us to build even stronger resources and networks in the background.”

The new blue/green Monaco Clubman team mates of Nelson and Greenwood will be supported in 2010 / 2011 by Harrington Doyle Corporate Resources, X-treme Racing Apparel, Orrcon Steel, Inox Lubricants, PPG Automotive Refinishes, PacificRim Trading Brisbane, Totally Commercial Flooring Qld and a number of other DRK Team Partners.

James will debut his new Pro Karting powered Monaco Kart at the upcoming mid week Supercheap Auto Kart Series Round 3, Townsville Kart Club Track on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th July as part of a massive North Queensland Race Week culminating in the V8 Supercars’ Sucrogen Townsville 400, from 9th to 11th July.
