Wharton Wins 'Stumpy' Apps Memorial At Sun Centre Titles
The Sun Centre Titles race meet hosted by the Swan Hill Kart Club on the 4th of July was a great success; 75 entries over 9 classes displaying exciting and competitive racing throughout the day.
The Titles incorporated the 'Stumpy' Apps Memorial trophy for ELKC members. The winner for 2010 was Shane Wharton, who blitzed the field in two classes - Clubman Super Heavy & TAG Restricted Pro.
For this time of year, the weather was at is best, both days being clear, cool and sunny. Competitors travelled from all over Victoria to support the SHKC - Albury, Ballarat, Bendigo, ELKC, Geelong, GKCV, Mildura, Oakleigh, Sth West, Warrnambool, Wimmera and South Australia.
Five Swan Hill Kart Club members received trophies in their respective fields - Andrew Warnaar (2nd CL), Brendan McGinniskin (1st CH), Tony Whitwam (2nd O'40's), Jason Gibson (3rd CSH), Daniel Fedele (2nd CSH).
This race meeting was the first for the compulsory transponder / CMS timing system, that at the moment is an aid to lap scoring only. When ALL clubs have been trained and the system completely fine tuned it will then be married into the mylaps website, that so many refer to.
