NSW Prokart Championship Resumes With Wollongong 12-Hour

press release

After a short hiatus; the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship will resume with the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ this Sunday (July 18) at Wollongong City Raceway.

The ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’, which doubles as the fifth round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship, has attracted a huge line up of teams and it is expected that the grid of 32 will reach its capacity.

There are a number of teams that have entered three karts and they include Jets Motorsport and Starkey Motorsport.

This is the second round of the NSW Championship that has been staged at the Wollongong City Raceway circuit this year. The opening round, the ‘Wollongong 1000’, back in February resulted in the # 1 Jets Motorsport team dominating proceedings.

Current pace setters of the NSW Championship are the # 1 Jets Motorsport team, who have won three out of four rounds, and they head into the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ as favourites, especially considering that they scored a dominant victory in the ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ up in Queensland.

Round three NSW Championship winners were the # 23 Bell Pipes Racing team and they are no doubt looking to add to their winning tally at the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’.

Aside from the # 1 Jets Motorsport and # 23 Bell Pipes Racing teams, other teams aiming to get into victory lane at the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ include # 777 and # 888 Horsepower Racing, # 66 Team Kaos, # 71 KBC Racing, # 82 Team SPR, # 21 Walkos Racing and that is just scratching the surface in terms of potential winners.

Each team contesting the ‘Wollongong 12 Hour’ has between two and five drivers per team and throughout the race they are required to make numerous pit stops for things such as driver changes, fuel, tyre changes and repairs.

Practice and qualifying sessions begin at 8am on Sunday, with the gates open for competitors from 6.30am, and the Wollongong 12 Hour race itself is scheduled to begin at 9.30am with a classic ‘Lemans’ start and go through to 9.30pm.

The Wollongong City Raceway circuit is located on the corner of West Dapto Road and the Princes Highway at Kembla Grange on the South Coast of NSW.

For those that can’t make it out to the track this Sunday for the Wollongong 12 Hour be sure to visit the prokart.racertv.com.au website to watch the event live.
