Hurricane Drivers Fare Well at WA Western Cup Final

press release

Last Weekend saw the final round of Western Australia's Western Cup held at the wet and wild Midwest Kart Club.  The crowd on hand were treated to spectacular racing even though the classes were down in attendance.

Hurricane Kart Club drivers were well represented in numerous classes.  Over 40's saw Greg Dicker in the Flatout sponsored Arrow dominated all four races.  Current State Champion Rob Landsmeer finished a close 2nd but couldn't find the right set up for his Prosser Toyota Arrow.  Randle Beavis produced several PB's to finish 3rd for the day in his Valley Ford Arrow.  Rob Landsmeer took out the overall Championship.

Jason Le Cocq took out the honours in Junior Performance.  'Racing' Jason drove hard to fend off Hurricane's Scott Foster in his # 4 Kartforce powered Kosmic.  Foster displaying plenty of speed spun the model in one of his heat races to finish 2nd for the weekend & overall for the series.

Senior National Combined saw a tight battle between Hurricane's Dean Host and Jason Hounsfield.  With 2 points separating both drivers leading into the final round it was Dean Host who took round and overall series honours.  The #32 Les Dean Racing powered Monaco was unstoppable with Host displaying the driving ability he possessed as a junior.

Restricted 125 Heavy was dominated by Troy Johnson. The #14 Kartforce powered Kosmic was in a league of its own opening up leads on the field not seen in years.  Johnson took out the first two heats with his Leopard X30 before switching to a back up Leopard RL after sustaining damage in Sunday morning tune-ups.  The RL failed to slow Johnson as he opened up an even bigger gap on the field in Heat's 3 and 4.  Johnson claimed overall series honours with another Hurricane member Mike Booth finishing a fine 2nd in his Bremick powered Flatout Arrow.

West Australian Karters now turn their attention to Tiger Kart Clubs Cockburn Classic which will be held on 31st of July.
