Queensland Championship to Debut at Rockhampton

Rockhampton’s Fitzroy Park Raceway will this Saturday (July 24) host the fifth round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Queensland Endurance Kart Championship in what will be the first time the circuit has hosted such an event.

A total of 15 teams, which will feature between three to four drivers in each team, are set to take to the Fitzroy Park Raceway and fight it out for the ‘Rockhampton 12 Hour’, which is held in conjunction with the Central Queensland Motormania Festival, winning spoils around the 861 metre circuit.

Current Queensland Championship pace setters, the # 51 and 50 Team5150R, head the line-up of leading ‘Rockhampton 12 Hour’ contenders and they are going to be joined by the likes of # 661 PDS Grand Prix Racing, # 27 Resisales Racing, # 152 Phantom Racing, # 42 Knk Scuderia and a host of others.

In terms of local contenders there are a few of them and the one to watch out for is no doubt going to be the # 95 Tracksa team, which is going to be made up of Rockhampton based drivers. Included in the Tracksa team line-up is John Grother and Cian Fothergill along with up and coming talents Elle Brydon and Brenton Simmonds and they all have their eyes on challenging for the victory honours.  

Each team contesting the ‘Rockhampton 12 Hour’ has between two to four drivers per team and at a minimum they must make a driver change once per hour, and refuel once every 2 hours.
 
Practice and qualifying sessions begin at 8am. The ‘Rockhampton 12 Hour’ race is scheduled to begin at 9.30am, which is going to feature a ‘LeMans’ style start, and will conclude at 9.30pm.

The Fitzroy Park Raceway circuit is located 23km South of Rockhampton along the Bruce Highway.
