Preview: 2010 Speedway Kart Grand Prix

press release

After 5 weeks of waiting, round 5 of the  20th anniversary Championship season for the NSWSKC gets under way this Sunday with the running of the 2010 Speedway Kart Grand Prix.

This year the event is being supported by Castle Trophies and the club would like to thank and welcome another new corporate partner to the list of wonderful supporters of the club .

Round 5 is the turning point of the 8 round Championship season, and this weekend we turn the corner and head for home.

Leading the way at the moment is young Junior hard charger Nathan Camilleri with a slim 6 point lead over former Club Champion Michael Jordan who is only trailed by 2 points back to in form KT Heavy Driver Cameron Coghlan .

This years championship chase is very tight with the top 5 only separated by less than 30 points. With 4 rounds remaining this years chase in the tightest in the 20 year history of the club and  for the drivers this round is also the last chance they get to see the points as they close off and everybody then waits for the annual presentation night to see how it all pans out .

In the 11 team Premier league at the half way mark the Benson Bandits and the Big 1 Racing teams lead on 45 points and they are being chased very closely by the pack . The thing the teams don’t know is who has and hasn’t played their jokers which once they have will shake the ladder up .

This weekends race meeting promises to be a fantastic day of speedway action as over 80 drivers compete and showcase speedway karting. The racing is scheduled to start at 10am and the 28 events should be completed by 3pm allowing family, friends and guest to enjoy the presentation celebrations.

We have at Nepean full canteen facilities where you can get a cost affordable lunch and then sit back on the grass hill on a sunny lazy Sunday at the skids. At only $5 per adult entry what better way to get your off season speedway kick then coming out to Nepean and watching some of the stars of the future?
