James Dean On Podium at New Tremblant Track

press release

James Dean of Montreal, Quebec headed to the new karting track at the famed Mont Tremblant motor sports facility taking back-to-back podiums in his return to the track. James Dean skipped the Monaco of Trois Rivieres event as the family headed out on vacation. The PSL Karting CRG driver took the top spot on the podium in Saturday Coupe de Montreal action and then grabbed another trophy with third place in the final round of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship on Sunday. The young Rotax Micro Max driver has been leading the way at every stop on the racing calendar as he looks to complete a dream season. Working through three different championships in two different provinces, the team is focused on building their program toward the Canadian National Championships in late August.

The new Mont-Tremblant track hosted two series this weekend with drivers from all over North America coming to race on the track that will also be hosting the ASN Canada FIA Canadian Nationals in two weeks. Some of the most exciting action over the three-day double bill event came from the Rotax Micro Max class. James Dean battled it out all weekend exchanging the lead more times in a race than were laps. James Dean’s racing technique and defensive style of driving had everyone jumping in the stands as the front-runners battled at every turn.

In Saturday racing action, James Dean won in the pre-final and final races in the Coupe De Montreal series and extended his lead for the Championship. On Sunday, the final races of the ECKC series were held. With only four series starts for James Dean was only 25 points out of first place for the ECKC series Championship. James Dean won the pre-final race in the morning. In the final race it looked as if James Dean was poised for his second straight win but unfortunately lost the lead on the second to last corner of the last lap. Running fast and holding steady in the lead, the karts in second and third teamed up to draft forward pushing into P1 and slipped in for P2 leaving James Dean to take third and his second podium of the weekend.

“I knew I had the speed to hold the lead for the win, but suddenly Karter shot forward and that’s when I saw Jordan glued to his bumper with no room for me to slip in,” commented James Dean after the race. “It was a great move and it was an awesome weekend of racing.”

James Dean took second spot in Eastern Canadian Karting Championship despite missing one round of racing and sets the bar for Tremblant track record with a lap at 1:02.038 seconds.

“This was a great warm up for the Canadian Nationals,” commented Dean Laderoute, James Dean’s father. “To set the fast lap and set the bar is very cool. It is going to be a great race.”

Up next for James Dean will be a short break before heading to Mont Tremblant for the ASN Canada FIA Canadian Karting Championship
