Sera Wins Sports Sedans Round

Azzurro Karts' James Sera dominated proceedings in the Kerrick Sports Sedans Series at Morgan Park on the weekend, steering his Chev powered Saab to victory at only his second ever race car meeting.

The win means Sera has closed the points gap to series leader Darren Hossack, who failed to score any points after blowing an engine in the first race. Hossack had earlier qualifying on pole.

“It was a pretty good weekend, it’s only my second ever car meeting, so I couldn’t ask for much more,” James Sera said.

“It was sad to see Darren have some problems this morning. You don’t want to win races like that, but in motorsport anything can happen, and it could all turn around at the next race meeting.

“Coming to Morgan Park for the first time was a bit of a level playing field, but at Eastern Creek, Darren, Kerry (Baily) and Trent (Young) probably have a bit of an advantage over me.

Hossack's Sports Sedan disaster was almost repeated in the 250 International superkart class as Warren McIlveen put together three strong race wins. The Hoss, however, managed to win the final heat, equalling McIlveen's points and claiming the championship by virtue of being higher placed in the last race (see separate article).
