Greenwood 2nd At Gladstone Supercheap Round

press release

The Inox Products supported Doyle’s Racing Kartsport Clubman Heavy driver, James Greenwood made the long sojourn north to Gladstone on 3rd September to continue his success in the 2010 Supercheap Auto Kart Series.  For his efforts, he came away with yet another Podium placing and bag of Series Points.

After qualifying 6th late Saturday afternoon, the young Springwood Electrician was a little disappointed that his race engine was proving to be off the pace compared to his practice engine from earlier in the morning.

In Race 1 on Sunday morning, Greenwood dropped an earth lead on his motor whilst running 2nd to local racer Cian Fothergill. Sadly James did not finish the race, as did pole sitter Fothergill who had suffered a broken header pipe.

Bouncing right back in Race 2, Greenwood drove from the back of the Clubman Heavy pack in the wet to Win the race convincingly.  He was determined that the many hours of preparation and long drive were not going to be in vain.

In Race 3 later in Sunday’s afternoon, James finished 2nd in the longer Supercheap Auto Kart Series race formats.  This result together with the earlier race win was sufficient to earn him 2nd overall for the Gladstone Round behind Cian Fothergill.

“I just want to say congratulations to Cian for a great win and providing me and our Team with some terrific tough competition this weekend”, said Greenwood.  “I also want to thank our Team Partners for their support and my crew of Trevor Beetham and Rodger Korzeniewski this weekend for helping to get me here and keep me at the front.”

Greenwood rejoins his Doyle’s Racing Kartsport Team mate, Brendan Nelson next at Warwick for Round 4 of the 2010 Southern Star Kart Series.  Nelson didn’t make the trip to Gladstone due to commitments with his Rotax Team at the 2010 Rotax National Championships.
