A1 Engines Queensland Update

press release

Eleven- year old Jake Downs continues to impress in the Jnr Light class taking the win at the annual Whitsunday Titles in Mackay over the weekend.

It was a shaky start for Jake in the first heat, with a racing incident causing him to watch the remainder of the race from the sideline. Jake’s drive in the second heat put him back in contention, showing the class his determination to take the win. This allowed Jake to start from  mid pack position for the pre final in which he placed second, putting him on the front row for the final.

After a blistering start in the final, it was Jake Downs and Joshua Smith who drove away from the field with the lead changing almost every lap throughout the 18 lap race. Downs kept his cool throughout the final laps, taking back the lead in the last lap to drive away with the victory win.

Our Midget drivers Declan and Brock drove well and consistent thoughout the weekend in the competitive class to conclude the meet, with Brock in 4th and Declan in 5th position.

In the Junior Heavy class, luck was not on Alistair’s side after a great start on pole for the final, a racing incident unfortunately resulted in a DNF for Alistair, forcing him to watch the race unfold from the sideline.

Brock, Declan and Alistair take a road trip to Warwick next weekend to compete at the Qld Closed Championships.
