Qualifying: WSK Round 2

Zanchetta (CKR-TM KZ2), Osvaldi (Tony Kart-Vortex KF2), Nielsen (DR-Parilla KF3) and Petrut (Top Kart-Parilla Mini) were the top drivers in qualifying for the WSK Master Series round 2 at Val Vibrata (Italy) this weekend.

Australian Mini class driver Alexander Peroni (CRG) is 18th in the massive 60 kart 60cc category.

The WSK Master Series stops off in Abruzzo. It is going full steam ahead the second round of the WSK Master Series taking place at the circuit Val Vibrata in Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata the current week. We are in province of Teramo, few kilometres from Ascoli Piceno and in the Abruzzian area that borders Marches. The1050-metre long racetrack is fast and a big covered grandstand holding 500 seats is set just in front of the straight to offer the opportunity to follow every moment of the races.

Timing practices. Marco Zanchetta is the faster in KZ2. Once completed the free practices planned to open the WSK weekend on Thursday, driver’s goal was only to get the best time today, in preparation for tomorrow’s qualifying heats involving all the four classes. In the timing practices the best time in KZ2 was signed by the Championship’s leader Marco Zanchetta (CKR-TM-Dunlop), with Francesco Celenta (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) in second place. Both of them will compete against the blond Dutch girl Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop), who is today in third place after the winning in the previous race in Siena.

In KF2 Luca Osvaldi claimed the pole, as well as Nicklas Nielsen did in KF3. The best time in KF2 belongs to Italian Luca Osvaldi, ahead of Alessio Costantini (both with Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). The leading driver Antonio Giovinazzi (Top Kart-Parilla-Vega) in in 7th place, as well as Giuliano Niceta (RK-BMB-Dunlop) who is leader in KF3. In the latter category the best time was signed by Danish Nicklas Nielsen (DR-Parilla-Dunlop), ahead of Paolo Ippolito (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop).

Petrut Florescu is the best among the young drivers of 60 Mini, followed by Hugo Hakkinen. The Romanian Petrut Florescu (Top Kart-Parilla-Vega) was the leader in timing practices, among the young drivers from 9 to 12 of the 60 Mini. After him, the Russian Alexander Zhirkov (Birel-LKE-Vega) was 2nd and the Championship’s leader Robert Shwartzman (Lenzo-LKE-Vega) was only 40th at the end of a difficult day. In 13th place was Hugo Hakkinen (CRG-LKE-Vega), carefully looked after by his dad, the two-times F.1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen.

The 181 drivers are competing against each other tomorrow and the results will be live on the Internet. Today’s results are fixing the starting grids for tomorrow’s heats. Until Sunday morning 26th, the 181 drivers entered at Val Vibrata are competing in a series of 30 qualifying heats to achieve the best position at the start in the Finals on Sunday afternoon. Every result is available live on the Internet on the official website www.wsk.it.

The 60 Mini will complete the season at La Conca circuit in the Nations Cup. In the beginning of the weekend at Val Vibrata the main news was the announcement that the 60 Mini will join Super KF, KZ2, KF2 e KF3 in the Nations Cup, which is the final event of the world wide season by WSK Promotion, scheduled on November, 28th. It will take place in Italy, at La Conca International Circuit, which is the same location where the 2010 Championships took off.
