A1 Engines QLD Closed Titles Report

press release

Brock Owen,  Declan Fraser & Alistair Ingram travelled to Warwick to compete in the QLD Closed State Titles.

The event was held over 3 days  with karters from all over the state travelling to compete for the title. With weather conditions constantly changing, plus a track the boys weren't familiar with, saw a weekend of mixed results.

It was A1 Engines Midget drivers that showed outstanding performance with Brock Owen winning the QLD Closed State Title & Declan Fraser coming in a close 2nd.

Saturday saw all boys compete in trying weather conditions. Whilst gridded up the heavens opened and saw the mightly Midgets having to run their prefinal with slick tyres on a wet track. Managing to keep their karts on the track they fought their way through a very competitive field.

On Sunday for the finals the weather cleared. Declan, starting out of 4th place, was keen for a win. Starting out of 5th place was Brock. With a mistake free drive all weekend and pace behind him, he pushed himself to the limit.  After a 15 lap nail biting final, Brock claimed the title with Declan 2nd.

In Junior National Heavy, Alistair showed some great racing over the weekend, finishing 6th in the prefinal. Alistair was in with a good chance, but due to a racing incident resulting in a DNF, Alistair watched the remainder of the race as a spectator.

Brock has since competed at the Port Curtis Titles in Gladstone. Once again showing his outstanding driving ability, he comfortably claimed the Title winning it by nearly 1/2 the length of the straight.

It has been another great month of racing for the A1 Engine Team.
