2 x Gearbox and 1 x Rotax Round for 2011 Superkart Nationals

The Australian Superkart Championship will remain a 2-round series next year. Superkarts Australia has released a proposed calendar for the series which once again coincides with Shannons Nationals events at Eastern Creek and Phillip Island. The Non-Gearbox Rotax Nationals will be at Mallala, SA.

“SKA has reviewed the responses to our (members) survey sent after Morgan Park to see how we could improve next years’ events” Superkarts Australia Clint Brown said.

“Although three rounds were wanted by some, two rounds at the premier circuits Phillip Island and Eastern Creek were preferred and sustainable on most budgets.”

“SKA is pleased to announce that Shannons will again be hosting the SKA Superkart Australian Championships in 2011. Although these dates are provisional due to a delay in the V8 calendar announcement, they are not expected to change.”

  • Eastern Creek    16-17 July -  Australian Superkart Championship Round 1
  • Philip Island       5-6 November - Australian Superkart Championship Round 2
  • Mallala              30 April - 1 May - Rotax Superkart Non-Gearbox

Race distances will also be increased in 2011, with all three events planned to have a longer format of three heats of ten laps and one final heat of twelve laps.

“SKA is well underway with the planning for television sponsorship for all three events” Brown added.

After the sell-out dinner at this year’s Morgan Park round, similar celebrations are planned for the Saturday night of the gearbox rounds at Phillip Island and Eastern Creek.

“120 people filled the Morgan Park event, so I believe we will push well over that number at our two largest circuits.

“The pre-registration scheme with a simpler entry system will be in place for 2011. We received over 40 pre-racing registrations this year from members who wanted to secure the maximum discounts on offer. This system will be repeated... I would expect the grid to fill very fast.”
