Track Warrior Making Ground

DPE’s Track Warrior chassis was launched to the karting trade in June as a machine designed to offer recreational and hobbyist karters a more affordable way of owning brand new race-spec equipment (see http://www.kartsportnews.com/content/2010/news_100609-5.html)

A few months down the line, the Track Warrior is starting to make inroads on this segment of karting.

Sales of the kart have been ramping up at various locations around the country, particularly where there are private kart circuits. In addition to rolling chassis, the Track Warrior with Subaru engine package is gaining popularity as a turn-key way to hit the track ($3,990rrp, see below).

The Subaru engine is already quite widely used in competition at privately run tracks such as Picton, (NSW, where there is an endurance ‘F4’ series specifically for the motor), Lakeside (Qld) and The Butterfly Farm (NSW).

Future plans may lead to independently run leisure karting series between private circuits such as these and others.

“We’ve sold a number of the Subaru packages” DPE’s Adam Klunyk confirmed to KartSportNews. “A number of karters are buying these instead of a second hand package. The engines are approved for use on AKA circuits, they just can’t be raced in AKA competition.”

Inevitably, some of these budget priced chassis are popping up in AKA sprint competition. For example, karting newcomer Aaron George raced a Track Warrior fitted with an X30 Leopard at Oakleigh recently, finishing second overall in the TaG125 Restricted P class.

The 4-stroke Subaru KX21 engine is available through DPE and their dealers, as both part of a Track Warrior package, and as a separate bolt-on item. The company already stocks several components, such as clutches, and is set to have full parts inventory in the future.

“Now Karters can take advantage of this fantastic pricing which allows them to get on track with all new equipment for practically second hand prices.”
