press release

The annual ProKart Nationals was run and won over the weekend at Wollongong City Raceway, near Kembla Grange on the South Coast of NSW, and it was highlighted by some sensational on track action from the various classes.

Close to 150 entrants over both Junior and Senior classes took part in this year’s ProKart Nationals around the 570 metre Wollongong City Raceway circuit and action was aplenty from the start through to the finish.

Clubman Light was the most popular class at the ProKart Nationals with close to 20 entrants and it was Ian Beeraz that came out on top in the final and he was able to defeat William Lucas in second and Chad Horsley in third on the podium.

In other Senior classes wins in the respective finals were shared between; Adam Hunter (Clubman Heavy) ahead of Leigh Wright and Dan Smith, Craig Cosis (Senior National) who defeated Daniel Slater and Steve Neill, Peter Brien (TAG Over 50s) ahead of Anthony Coles and Glenn Quinlan, Shane Tate (TAG Super Heavy) who downed Martin Brien and Mark Horsley, Andrew Starkey (Clubman Super Heavy) ahead of Nick Tatnell and Tim Baker, Justin Wilk (Performance 100cc) defeated Leigh Wright and David Hawes, Andrew Dorahy (TAG Restricted) proved too strong for Martin Brien and Grant Gaffa, Michael Johnston (TAG Heavy) was able to outpace Shane Tate and Glen Robinson, Dean Starling (Open Performance) ahead of Joe Chetcuti and Aaron Cogger, and Grant Gaffa (TAG Light) was able to down Jack Bennett and Peter Brien.

The Junior classes win in the respective finals saw Jacque Isarin (Midgets) take the victory spoils ahead of Dylan O’Brien and Tyson Williams, Chris Sandrone (Rookies) who outpaced Cody Gillis and Nathan Rourke, Jonathon Gauci (Junior National) finished ahead of Drew Friend and Dean Henry-Smith, Ben Stellino (Junior Clubman) defeated Dean Henry-Smith and Reanna Tate, and Ryan Suter (Junior Performance) took out the victory spoils when he finished ahead of Luke Oppio and Bradley Gill.

Throughout the weekend there was plenty of media interest from the Illawarra Mercury newspapers and WIN Television. Be sure to check out the footage on WIN Television sometime this week and there will also be a two page spread in the ‘Junior Sports’ section of this Thursdays (December 2) Illawarra Mercury.
