Horsham is an important agricultural centre in rural mid-Western Victoria. It is also home to one of Australian karting’s most well known personalities, Remo Luciani, and his karting business, Remo Racing.

Parts of Horsham are currently flooding as the Wimmera River spills its content in what news reports are calling a once-in-200-year flood.

Remo’s wife, Sabrina, informed KartSportNews that the Remo Racing premises were safe. “The warehouse is in a higher part of the town, so that shouldn’t be an issue” she said.

But for their house, which fronts the Wimmera River, it’s a far different story.

“We’re on high alert in front of the river” Remo said yesterday. “There’s only the road and playground park between us and the river. We don’t expect it to peak until Tuesday. Another metre and it will probably come into the house. It’s very much new ground for everyone.”

Providing power remains connected to their home, Sabrina plans to continue posting updates on the Remo Racing website HERE.

“People want to know what’s going on, so if I can I’ll be putting it up on the site.”
