British Super One Series Annual Awards

press release

Formula 1, touring car and Le Mans stars all helped to make the U.K.'s Super One Series awards a great success.

Held at the Autosport International Racing Car show at the NEC on Saturday 15th January, the TKM & Honda Cadet ABkC National Championship prizes were awarded by double 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Allan McNish.  Triple FIA World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx and reigning BTCC champion Jason Plato shared the duties for the Rotax ABkC classes, where all the class and Rookie winners received a Rotax engine, courtesy of JAG Engineering.  The KF3 MSA Junior British Kart Championship, ABkC KF2 & Cadet awards were presented by BBC Sport’s lead F1 commentator Martin Brundle, whilst the MSA’s Kart Executive Cheryl Lynch handed over the MSA British Kart Championship awards.

The Super One Series promoters would like to thank all of them for their support, as well as all valued sponsors and partners in the series with over £60,000 of prizes handed out.  Rookie winners will all enjoy a visit to Mercedes GP, whilst all seeded drivers receive an invitation to a three hour  iZone workshop at Silverstone.

ABkC Junior Max Super One Champion Matthew Parry was awarded the major iZone prize of a day at their Silverstone facility, with tuition by their expert driver coaches.

Later 287 drivers, officials and guests enjoyed an excellent dinner and entertainment at a nearby Coventry hotel.

A new sponsor is supporting the Rotax Max 177 ABkC national championship in 2011, with free registration and free entries for the last three rounds for each competitor, so long as they undertake the whole Super One season.

The British Champion takes a £10,000 purse in 2011, second place £5,000 and third place £2,000, subject to minimum entry levels.
