Pro Tour Tech Crackdown

Organisers are doing their best to ensure a fair playing field for competitors in the Rotax Pro Tour.

Series organiser IKD has informed KartSportNews of several technical checks and procedures that will be implemented at the opening event at Todd Road this weekend.

Clutches will be required to be fitted with genuine Rotax needle cage and O-ring. Failure to seal the needle cage correctly (resulting in the spreading of grease into the clutch drum) will be grounds for immediate disqualification from the event – and it will be checked randomly through the course of the meeting.

Instructions on how to correctly mount the needle cage and o-ring can be downloaded from the www.rotax.com.au website.

Other points of interest are:

  • A Photo Ionisation Detector (tyre sniffer) that complies with the new AKA regulation will also be in use for random checks.
  • PULP (control fuel for the meeting) should be purchased from the Cook St Shell Service Station from 27th January onwards. Random samples of competitor’s fuel may be taken during this meeting and tested for conformity to samples taken from the supplier between these dates.
  • Sealing nuts (3) must be fitted on all engines, including DD2 motors.
  • MOJO Tyre Management Software for bar code scanning of tyres & tyre marking will be used to ensure that each competitor only uses the one set of tyres for the duration of the event. All competitors will be required to present race tyres for scanning or marking.
