Restructured Team Gives Hunt Confidence For 2011

Troy Hunt believes his TopGun Racing Team is ready to become one of the forces to be reckoned with following a restructure of the team ahead of the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting Series.
Hunt is no stranger to the CIK style of racing having been one of the few Australian drivers to compete at the elite level of karting in Europe.
During the late 1990s Hunt raced in Formula super A as a official factory driver in European and World Championships against the likes of current Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Heikki Kovahleinen.
These days his focused has turned towards helping the stars of the future develop in the TopGun Racing Team and as a result he has teamed up with Ron Burns of AIM Sportsystems.
Burns will be attending each event with the team to analyse the data from the team driver’s karts. Hunt believes that the experience Burns has not only with data but also with karting he will be a vital part in the team’s success.
“I’m really looking forward to this year with the support of Ron Burns from AIM Sportsystems to completed all the data analysis and our driver line up I think we have a real chance of fighting for championships,” said Hunt.
“Karting has got to a level now where it is pretty technical and being able to analyse the data is a key part of being successful in the modern era.”
Hunt and Burns will be joined in the support crew within the team by experienced karter David Whitmore who will be a team mechanic along with long-time employee Matthew Burrell.
The TopGun team will consist of Pro Junior (KF3) debutants Mason Barbera (CRG) and Lachlan O’Reilly (Intrepid) along with Troy Loeskow (CRG) and Jake Coleman, both of whom competed in last year’s series.
The quartet will be looking to benefit from the experience of both Hunt and Burns as they battle for the Jon Targett trophy that goes to the eventual champion.
Jason Hryniuk, a three-time national champion in the Clubman category, will join forces with long-time rival Hunt to use both their experience and knowledge to clinch the Pro Light (KF1) title. With support from CRG Australia and a fresh new outlook on racing Hryniuk will be a definite title contender.
Joining Hryniuk in the senior ranks for the TopGun team will be Pro Light (KF1) debutant Jacob Parsons (right, in action during the 2010 CIK Stars of Karting Series - KartX/Budd pic). The Sydneysider will have the support of Top Kart throughout the year and has been working hard on his strength fitness during the off season.
Also coming under the TopGun Racing Team banner will be Andrew Roffey, Daniel Nolan and Mitch Kennedy in the Clubman and Junior National ranks.
