Above: Making his debut aboard the new Exprit, William Yarwood had a rival ride over the top on the first lap of the first heat of Rotax Heavy. The kart was undamaged, but Yarwood's leg took the full brunt of the impact and received a nasty wound (there's a photo in the discussion area of KartBook, but be warned; it's gruesome and graphic). "It was a big hit, and I was amazed the kart was ok" Yarwood told KartSportNews. "But when I got to the next corner, it hurt." Having then seen what the problem was, Will decided it was better to drive straight to the ambulance, rather than wait for assistance. "But I didnt know where it was, so I drove to the grid shed." Yarwood was super impressed by the treatment he receieved by the trackside medical staff (the ambo guy is actually a Paramedic by day and his wife is a nurse. The family attends quite a number of Vic karting meetings through the year). "That whistle he made me rocked... it's the best I have felt!" Will is now in a race against time to be recovered enough to race the opening round of CIK later this month.

Above: Renee Gracie was a revelation in the Junior MAX class. Fourth in the opening laps, she bided her time and systematically picked her way towards the front. The crowd roared when she overhauled race leader Joseph Mawson, however Mawson was able to get back in the lead for the win. Here, Renee leads Caitlan Wood.

Above: Pierce Lehane (11) on pole in Junior MAX beside Liam Morey, with Michael Stewart (51) and Joey Mawson on row 2. Having qualified pole, Lehane won 2 of the 3 heats but contact and off-track excursions in the pre-final and final saw a swag of points disappear from grasp. Fastest lap on the way to 10th in the final was little consolation.
