The Fong Beered (err, Geared...) Up for 2011

press release

Following a a surprisingly successful showing at last year's City of Melbourne Titles, Team Kartbook has been energized and this year hopes to record some even more impressive results, starting with an assault on this years Victorian Open Championships at Todd Road.

Team Kartbook is comprised of a ragtag band of karting soldiers, punching well above their weight with the resources at hand. Starting with the pilot, Luke Fong, the smallest person ever to graduate from the Rookies category and the man most likely to be found sitting in his kart on a phonebook. His support comes in the form of Col Fink, the smallest person never to race Rookies, and Peter Edgar, the pit crew who for reasons of temporary insanity refuses to physically enter a go kart track at all.

The support crew is rounded out by a huge contingent of generous (and slightly mad) supporters from around the country for whom witnessing the awesome power of The Fong in a go kart is all the reward they need for donating tyres, beer, tyres and beer. (Tyres and beer are also welcome).

Team Kartbook has started this year with a bang; with the help of K-Racer<http://www.kracer.com.au>and Remo Racing <http://www.remoracing.com.au> The Fong can now be found behind the wheel of a brand new Monaco GP7N! The kart made its racing debut (following a gruelling testing schedule that lasted around twelve minutes) at the South West Kart Club's Cobden circuit this past weekend, and finished the weekend just outside the top five.

"The new Monaco feels fantastic," spoke The Fong, "It's much pointier than I remember these things to be." Having stepped out of a Phoenix, which was renowned for being as pointy as a pointy stick which is pointing at something, this certainly speaks volumes for the new kart!

"I definitely think we can get somewhere in this kart," continued The Fong, "I think I could have made the top three this weekend, but I couldn't find a phonebook to sit on so I was lacking some jack. I'll definitely speak to The White Pages about some sponsorship prior to the Viccy Open".

It goes without saying that the entire karting community waits with baited breath to witness the devasting impact The Fong is expected to have on the Clubman Light field at the Victorian Open.

Keep up to date with all the progress - and hassle The Fong about testing more often! - at Kartbook.net!
