CC Racing, led by Pete Cathcart, is the exclusive Intrepid dealer in Melbourne and has been working with the distinctive orange chassis for many years.

Impressive results so early in the year has the CC Racing team primed for the win across the multitude of top level races coming up in 2011.

Standout race performances for the weekend included wins for Paul Rodgers in Rotax Heavy and youngster Mitchell Griffin in JMAX and 3rd place for Brittany Smith in Rotax Light and Danny Wright from Full Tilt Karting in Rotax Heavy.

JMAX was the race to watch with three Intrepid racers finishing in the Top Four places.  Gold Coast-based Mitchell Griffin and Zachary Phillips went 1 – 2, and Justin Francis finished 4th with an impressive drive right through the pack.

Mitchell Griffin, who has only just returned to karting from an extensive break due to a rib injury followed by a broken wrist from Basketball, had a dream run of racing on Sunday with a first place finish from 6th in the Pre-Final and a start on pole for the Final.

The Final was his for the taking as he led the race from start to finish.

The thirteen-year old has had prior success at the Puckapunyal track winning the Junior Sprint Classics as a Midget but had never raced on the track before in JMax or his Intrepid.

“It’s really great to be racing in JMax in the Intrepid Cruiser V chassis after most of 2010 off due to kart and basketball injuries.  I am really looking forward to racing this year, especially as the next round of the All Stars Series is my 14th birthday weekend” said Mitchell Griffin who will contest All Stars in Vic, Pro Tour and state titles.

“I dedicated my win at All Stars to Clint Cathcart, who is currently in hospital, and wish the Cathcart family of CC Racing all the best in supporting his recovery.”

“I’ll be contesting JMax at the Vic Open at Todd Road in a few weeks and think we have an awesome kart and the race support to get the job done.”

Mitchell Griffin would like to thank his sponsors – Hyper-Stimulater and GP Human Performance

TRANS-TASMAN TREK WORTH IT WITH WIN for LANE MOORE

In other Intrepid news, Queenslander Lane Moore blitzed the pack in New Zealand taking out first place in Rotax Heavy at the Kart ‘n’ the Dark event, round 1 of the NZ Rotax Max Challenge at Manawatu Track in Palmerston North.

Also outstanding across the event was Intrepid’s Rotax Light pilot, Daniel Kinsman who topped the time sheets in Qualifying and winning the two Heats and Pre-Final, but was narrowly beaten in the Final to take second place and set fastest lap times.

According to Team Moore mentor, Gerry Brookes of Turn 1 Motorsport, the Palmerston North track pulled out all stops to present the event, with great weather and local hospitality topping off the winning weekend.

Intrepid’s Lane Moore will return to New Zealand over Easter to compete in the New Zealand Rotax Nationals.
