Compulsory Dental Checks For Junior Karters

1 April 2011

All junior karters between the ages of 7 and 13 will be subject to dental inspections before an event.

victorian go karting championships, port melbourne This new rule was rushed through after officials from the governing body saw a picture here on KartSportNews from the Victorian Open Championships.

The photo, supplied by www.afimages.com.au and re-published here, was of Midget driver Cooper Murray, who lost a tooth on the outgrid at Todd Rd while getting ready for Sunday's carby session.

"It is just too risky having karters on the track with loose things in their head" a spokesperson said.

“Event promoters (ie, the clubs) will need to arrange a qualified dentist to inspect junior drivers before the first practice session.

"There will be no requirement for the dentist to stay at the event once all the kids have had their chompers checked."

When quizzed about drivers who wear dentures, the spokesperson said they would look into that for next year.

“We are also considering a levy for people who wear rose-coloured glasses”

The new rule is effective today.
