CRG Head CIK SoK Points In Three Classes

press release

The CRG Racing Team lead the Championship Points in three classes after the completion of the second round the Australia’s elite karting series, the CIK Stars of Karting at the Southern Go Kart Club’s Bolivar Raceway in South Australia.

Reigning Pro Junior (KF3) class Champion Pierce Lehane continues to lead the Pro Junior (KF3) points table as does Lydon Dodge in the Clubman Yamaha Challenge after his second consecutive round victory while in Pro Gearbox Kel Treseder now heads to round three also leading his class.

Lehane was again right on the pace in both finals again finishing on the podium after crossing the line second in final one and third in final two backing up his pole position and two heat wins from the opening day.

The CRG karts were the pacesetters in today’s Clubman Yamaha Challenge finals with Dodge leading home local racer Daniel Price in the Pre-final to make it an all CRG front row for the final.

A one-two again looked likely in the final with Dodge greeting the chequers first however Price was caught up in an incident while dicing up front but recovered to round out the podium in third.

“This is a great feeling as it (Bolivar) is a really nice track but I’ve had a lot of bad luck here in the past so we came here with the aim of getting through the meeting unscathed,” explained Dodge.

“We had good speed aboard our CRG early so we decided not to go too hard to early as there are long races in the end and that’s where the points are so that’s what we set our kart up for and it paid of for us.”

“Myself and Daniel (Price) both have the same chassis but ran two totally different set-ups as we have very different driving styles but the CRG was definitely working for both of us.”

The capacity grid Pro Gearbox (KZ2) was a hard fought battle all weekend with a classy field but Treseder’s consistency throughout the series will see the 2010 series runner-up venture to the Todd Road circuit in Port Melbourne for round three on June 16-18 in charge of the series points.

“I think to win this Championship it’s going to be all about consistency and limiting the mistakes and that’s what I’m about, focussing on being on top of my game and my CRG hasn’t let me down,” said Treseder.

“I’m happy to walk away from the round with a healthy bag full of points and even more so to be leading the Championship and really look forward to round three down in Melbourne.”

Like Treseder, fellow CRG driver Jason Pringle also continued his consistent run in the Pro Gearbox category and now sits fifth in the standings just 17 points behind his teammate.

The series support class for the weekend was Sportsman 125 and local CRG driver Jedd Stojakovic was in control in the final that was until his throttle cable snapped reducing him to a spectator.

The CRG Racing Team look forward to tackling round three of the Championship in Melbourne (June 16-18).
