Gardner Wins Young Guns Title

press release

After three attempts and many podium places, Gold Coast teenager Ashlon Gardner finally broke through to secure his maiden victory at the prestigious Young Guns Titles held at the Lismore Kart circuit at the weekend.

In addition, not only did Gardner win the prestigious Young Guns Title in the Junior Max category (the fastest junior class), but he also impressed the talent scouts at Anglo Australian Motorsport and secured himself a test drive in a Formula Ford race car.

The 15 year old Benowa High student made a great start and overtook multiple state champion Brock Plumb for the lead at the first corner and extended his lead from there on his way to a convincing victory at the end of the 15 lap Final.

“It’s absolutely incredible to finally break through and win the Young Guns Title,” states an ecstatic Gardner. “We’ve been on the podium every year for the past few years now, but it’s absolutely great to finally be on the top step.”

“I really have to thank my Dad for his ongoing support and for taking me to all of these events so that I can pursue my dreams and achieve my potential. I also appreciate the assistance from a few sponsors who made it possible for me to compete at the Young Guns Titles. I really have to thank local businesses Universal Sheetmetal & Screamin’ Squeegees Screen Printing who both provided my tyres, my coach Ben George from R360 Driver Training & Race Support, and also my ongoing supporters TechAire Air Movement Products, KAOS Karting & VGB Quality Sheds (Ranbuild Yatala).”

With his ability and potential on show last weekend, Anglo Australian Motorsport, one of Australia’s leading Formula Ford teams, have chosen Ashlon to participate in a Driver Evaluation day with the team at Wakefield Park later on this year.

“To just win the race was absolutely incredible and was one of my many career highlights, but to be given the opportunity to do a Formula Ford test and evaluation day is a great bonus.  I really have to thank Tim Beale from Anglo for giving me such a wonderful opportunity.”

For having a limited budget, Ashlon has achieved unbelievable things in such a short racing career, but if given the right funding, support and opportunities, former Karting World Champion Ben George believes that Gardner has the potential to accomplish greater results and achieve his goal to become one of Australia’s top motorsport drivers.

Ashlon Gardner Racing is seeking assistance from sponsors willing to help join in his future success. For sponsorship proposals please go to the contact page of his self designed website: www.ashlongardnerracing.com.au
