Twice As Good For Hodge

press release

After a very successful test in wet conditions at Winton for Team BRM in a Formula Ford, Simon Hodge returned home to compete in the SA State Closed Kart Titles, where the triumphs flowed for the Adelaide teenager, taking out two state titles and eclipsing the lap record at Monarto.

In Rotax Light, Hodge managed to break the lap record three times in successive sessions at the Monarto circuit, pulverising the previous best by 4 tenths of a second.

His first achievement truly prepared him for the big weekend ahead, going on to take a clean sweep of the heats pre-final and final. “Both karts performed faultlessly over the weekend, a true credit to mechanic Paul (Dankowski),” said Hodge.

In Clubman Light Hodge claimed 3rd position on the grid, only 0.04 off the pole-sitter’s time. However pace only continued to improve as Simon challenged for the lead through out the races. A front row start in the final, combined with strong out laps showed Hodge clearly had the upper hand in the early stages of the race, from which he only continued to improve and eventually taking victory by over 3 seconds.

Simon stated following the meeting, "It was awesome to win Clubman Light and felt amazing to back it up with a win in Rotax light."

Along with this stunning performance, Hodge also managed a podium in his first appearance in Sportsman 125 Light, finishing 2nd which was further proof of the talent that has become so recognised with Simon.
