Aussies To Race Laguna Seca Next Month

Australian Superkarters Sam Zavaglia (NSW) and Mike Wayne (SA) will be competing in the annual Superkart event at Laguna Seca Raceway in America on July 7-9.

Zavaglia has just shipped one of his 250 International machines to the USA.

"I will be racing against current 250 International CIK European Champion Gavin Bennett and also CIK Championship race winner Malcolm Crowe, both from the UK" Zavaglia said.

"They will be piloting the latest Anderson/DEA equipment with Russell Anderson on hand to assist his drivers."

Also competing at the event will be four-time 500cc World Champion Eddie Lawson in his factory Yamaha/Bridgestone backed 250 twin.

South Australian Mike Wayne will campaign his Stockman/Honda combo.

"We are hoping he can again show he is quite competitive against the Yanks and hopefully see another
podium for Mike" Zavagia added.

"It’s quite a daunting thought to take on the might of some of the best Superkart drivers in the world but that is the challenge I have taken upon myself to try and recognize that Australian Superkarting is not just a bunch of wannabies down under."
