Four Victories For Quinlan Duo

press release

Birel America drivers Grant and Tommy Quinlan recently traveled to Point Pelee Karting for the second round of the 2011 Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship with only one thought in mind; win. The duo put forth a brilliant effort throughout the entire weekend to earn victories in all four classes the brothers entered.

While Grant is no stranger to the top of the podium, Tommy, in only his second season of karting, scored the biggest victory thus far of his young career.

On Saturday, Tommy kicked off the day by scoring the pole-position in the Cadet class. After falling to second on the start of the pre-final, Tommy regained the lead on lap three and never looked back. Getting a better start in the final, Tommy grabbed the lead from the drop of the green flag and never looked back. Completing the fastest lap of the race, Tommy fist-pumped as he crossed the finish line to earn the victory.

Seeing the success of his younger brother, Grant took to the track in both Rotax Jr. and Honda Jr. Medium. In both classes he muscled his way to the pole-position, before earning both pre-final victories. While he drove away with the win in Rotax Jr., Grant had to work a little harder to earn the win in Jr. Medium, but in the end completed the daily sweep, a very impressive feat.

"I was just out there having fun today," giggled Grant following Saturday's podium presentation. "It just felt like a perfect day, everything went right and I won two races. And Tommy won too!"

Returning on Sunday, only Grant would be in action. Taking on the very competitive Honda Jr. Heavy class, Grant would once again earn the pole-position in qualifying. However the chance of completing the weekend sweep would end in the pre-final, as Grant would lose by a hair, 0.051 seconds to be exact. Seeking revenge in the final, Grant led the first lap before falling down the order to third as he completed lap two. Waiting for his chance to regain the lead, Grant took control on lap ten and never looked back, leading the remainder of the 20-lap final to earn his third victory in as many races.

Grant Quinlan will be back on track July 8-10 when he heads to BeaverRun Motorsports Complex in Wampum, PA with his Birel America team, for the fourth round the 2011 WKA Manufacturers Cup. Grant currently leads the way in all three classes he is competing and will look to score more victories and more valuable points towards the elusive WKA Triple Crown.
