Above: Despite a small field, Senior National Heavy provided the most drama-packed race of the weekend. James Taylor (#25) dominated throughout, winning both heats and the pre-final, but it all ended in the turn one sand trap on the opening lap of the final. This left Joe Cooley, Mitch Leeson and Darren Harris (#85) to fight for the lead. But when the trio tangled half way through the race, taking each other out, it left Craig Thornton and Matthew Pontello as the only men left standing, Thornton claiming the win.

Above: Newcastle saved the most exciting race until last, when Junior National Heavy hit the track. #78 Mick Saller and #18 Michael potter lead the field away at the start of the final, with Jordan Zammit and Joshua Seiffert joining them to battle for the lead throughout the race. The last lap saw Potter leading Zammit, but the two touched coming out of the final corner, allowing Saller to edge out Zammit across the line. This looks set to be one of the premier classes at Griffith, with any one of five or six drivers capable of winning.
