Change of MOJO Tyres For Qld Championships

press release

To all Rotax competitors at the QLD Championships

As many of you would be aware the MOJO tyre range is going through an update. The main changes to the tyre is that the tyres are going to be CIK homologated and they can no longer use PCA’s in the compound due to global restrictions on the use of PCA’s for environmental reasons.

IKD has tried desperately hard to manage this process so that we could send out the “new” CIK tyres as of the Monday following the QLD Championships but it has come unstuck through no fault of ours. This is what has happened:-

  1. We carefully analysed the quantity of tyres we would need about a month ago and calculated that we would not have enough tyres to see us through the QLD Championships
  2. We emailed other Rotax distributors in the World and found that the USA had tyres that they could sell to us
  3. We air freighted these tyres to Australia so that we would have more than enough for the QLD Championships
  4. Due to Volcanic Ash the plane could not land in Sydney and was diverted to Brisbane
  5. The tyres were then trucked to Sydney by the transport company. Unfortunately the truck did not make it to Sydney as the truck was involved in an accident which resulted in the driver being killed and the truck was submerged in water in a roadside dam
  6. At this stage the truck is still impounded by police for their investigations

So, now we do not have enough tyres but we have mountains of the new CIK tyre so there will be no problem but some inconvenience for us all.

We have decided to take the following course of action for the QLD Championships:-

  • ROTAX HEAVY - WILL STILL PRACTICE AND RACE ON THE CURRENT (OLD) D2 TYRES – NO CHANGES AT ALL FOR ROTAX HEAVY
  • JUNIOR ROTAX AND ROTAX LIGHT WILL RACE ON THE NEW CIK MOJO D2 TYRE FOR THE QLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
  • IKD WILL BE AT THE EVENT FROM LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON TO ALLOW JUNIOR ROTAX AND ROTAX LIGHT COMPETITORS TO EXCHANGE UNUSED D2 TYRES FOR NEW CIK D2 TYRES FOR PRACTICE PURPOSES
  • THE TYRES THAT IKD WILL PUT INTO PARC FERME FOR JUNIOR ROTAX AND ROTAX LIGHT WILL BE NEW CIK D2 TYRES

IKD is very sorry for the inconvenience caused but it is an almost unbelievable set of circumstances that has worked against us and we thank you in advance for your understanding.
