DeMelo Wins Rotax World Final Slot

press release

Having already secured the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship Rotax Junior title, ZCD Autosports driver Zachary Claman DeMelo did not even need to compete in the final series event. With the threat of a disqualification being the only way to take away the title, Claman DeMelo and his crew decided to forgo the final round and watch from the sidelines as the champion.

"We are extremely happy with the results this year and I am certainly proud that Zach not only rose to the challenges presented to him, but has exceeded our expectations for the junior ranks this season," expressed driver coach Lee Bentham. "We set goals to run in the top five this season but realized after the first event, we could make a real run at the championship. Although his learning curve was quite steep, with hard work and perseverance, Zach came through with flying colors."

After claiming a race win at the Goodwood Kartways circuit earlier in the year, Claman DeMelo went on a consistent string of podium results and race wins to challenge the top of the standings. Following a great set of results at the next to last round at Mosport International Karting, Claman DeMelo had secured the title with ease before the final event in Mont Tremblant.

Bentham continued, "I am looking forward to training Zach for Europe as we look towards his first experiences on the international circuit. Racing at the Rotax World Finals is a feat in itself and we have high hopes as we head to Dubai."

ZCD Autosports has gelled together nicely and grown in the past year and has become one of Canada's top karting entities. Continuing to strive and aspire to improve each and every race weekend, ZCD Autosports has proven to all of karting that it is possible to reach such great heights within a short period of time.

ZCD Autosports would also like to congratulate Tyler Rapini in the Rotax Mini Max class.  Rapini has shown great improvement throughout the season and scored a solid second place result under the ZCD Autosport banner.
