Greenwood Evergreen at Supercheap Auto Kart Series Rnd 3

press release

Orrcon Steel supported HDR's James Greenwood shone again this past weekend in Bundaberg; as he swept up another Pro Clubman round win in the Queensland regional 2011 Supercheap Auto Kart Series.

The 22yo electrician determinedly placed his Pro Karting powered machine on pole during Saturday’s qualifying session with a 3/10ths advantage over fellow front rower, Sam Lumsden.

Greenwood then set about to take a 4 second win over Lumsden, followed by Stanley Petersen in the first of three 20 lap races for the weekend, late Saturday afternoon.

Pleased with James’ results in recent weeks, Team Manager, Craig Doyle said,” James is really quite focused at the moment and it’s great to see him kicking his goals.  Although he only just missed taking out the Queensland State Title a few weeks ago, James is certainly showing us how strong and quick he is.

"It’s terrific to see him leading the Supercheap Auto Kart Series in Pro Clubman and we know that he’s keen this coming weekend to redress the Ipswich chassis break and Melbourne racing incidents that have dogged him in the 2011 Yamaha Challenge as part of the national CIK Stars of Karting Series. He’s been strong all season, but has had a few unlucky setbacks. It’s all coming together now and we’re keen to see him do well.”

James opened his Sunday morning account at the Bundaberg round of the Supercheap Auto Kart Series with a convincing 5.64 second win over Craig Butler and Stanley Petersen.

In preparation for the third and final race of the weekend James and his team decided to trial a set-up change to his kart in the lead up to the Newcastle CIK Stars of Karting round.  Racing back to back weekends for the past month, the Team thought that this was an ideal time to do some testing in race mode.  Although learning new information, the set-up proved not to be profitable, allowing Craig Butler to catch and pass James during the closing stages of the final 20 lap race of the weekend.  Butler went on to take the win over Sam Lumsden and Greenwood.

Greenwood’s earlier race wins and a strong 3rd in the final race cemented yet another Supercheap Auto Kart Series round win for the HDR driver and further elevated him in the overall Series Points Table lead for the Pro Clubman class.

James’ younger team mate Callum Walker backed up a strong weekend, qualifying 6th in the Junior National Pro class.  Callum took a consistently competitive 5th, 6th and 6th place in the three 20 lap junior races over the weekend.

The Harrington Doyle Racing Team sets out for Newcastle on Wednesday, in preparation for the upcoming round of the national CIK Stars of Karting Series.  You can join and follow the Team at www.facebook.com/HarringtonDoyleRacing
